MARK OF DISCIPLESHIP: Daily Bible Study

God's Word is our Great Heritage? Could you learn a little more about the Bible and God's Word? Let me encourage you to open the book of faith, your Bible. Each month, for the next six months, I would like you to focus on a different mark of discipleship.

We start in September with Bible Study. Read and study scripture daily. There is a Daily Lectionary in the back of our hymnal. These readings are chosen so that the days leading up to Sunday (Thursday-Saturday) prepare for the upcoming Sunday lessons. Monday-Wednesday reflect back on Sunday's lessons. If you would like to participate in a group Bible study, plan to be involved on Wednesday with "If You Want To Walk On Water, You Have To Get Out Of The Boat!"

Finally, as part of the ELCA's initiative: Opening the Book of Faith, council met recently approving placing Bibles in the pews for worship.

"If You Want To Walk On Water, You Have To Get Out Of The Boat!" is the focus of our next Bible Study. This is a six week course which will look at:

1. Sept. 10 - What is Water-Walking

2. Sept. 24 - The Tragedy of the Unopened Gift

3. Oct. 1 - Find Your Calling and Get Your Feet Wet

4. Oct. 8 - Facing Our Challenges, Conquering Our Fears

5. Oct. 15 - Good News for Cave Dwellers

6. Oct. 22 - Learning to Wait on Our Big God

We will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Boggs Learning Center. Please let Pastor Young know if you want the text book, participants guide or both. Plan to be part of this exciting Bible Study.
